FWC approves extending red snapper season

redsnapperAccording to a press release, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) approved a 44-day recreational red snapper season for Gulf of Mexico state waters at its meeting April 17 in Tallahassee. State waters are from shore to 9 nautical miles in Gulf waters.

 

This season will start June 1 and end July 14. It is inconsistent with the current proposed federal season.

Navarre High School's baseball team will play Pace at 4 p.m. today at Tate High School in the semifinals of the Florida High School Athletics Association District 1-6A tournament. The winner will play the winner of the Tate-Escambia matchup at 7 p.m. tonight for the district title.

NHS baseball season ends in district semis

Pace beat Navarre 5-3 in the District 1-6A baseball tournament semifinals, guaranteeing the Patriots their ninth-straight trip to regionals and sending the Raiders home for the season.

Second-seeded Pace (18-9) will play top-seeded Tate, which beat Escambia 5-2 in the other semifinal Wednesday, today at Tate for the district championship. Both teams will compete in the Region 1-6A tournament that starts May 2.

Navarre finished the season with an 11-15 record.
